The Impact of New Corruption-Related Offences & Tough Penalties to be Explored in Detail

A one-day conference

Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin

Date: 13th December 2018

Ireland’s new anti-corruption legislation is now in force. The introduction of new corruption-related offences and tough penalties in the Criminal Justice (Corruption Offences) Act 2018 is expected to have a significant impact on corporates and other organisations operating in Ireland

One of the most important developments is the new corporate liability offence which allows for a corporate body to be held liable for the corrupt actions committed for its benefit by any director, manager, secretary, employee, agent or subsidiary under section 18 of the Act.  Companies will need to demonstrate that the company took “all reasonable steps and exercised due diligence” to avoid the offence being committed. Companies will need to prepare and implement anti-bribery and corruption policies and procedures to ensure they are prepared

This conference will explore all elements of this new act and what companies can do to show it has taken all reasonable steps to avoid an offence being committed?
