About this Conference

The 2024 Assisted Decision Making Act Conference, building on last year's introduction of the Act's key elements, examines the practical application and legal developments. This year, the focus is on its implementation covering "The Court Process So Far" with insights from Aisling Mulligan, and "Deprivation of Liberty" with Emma Slattery. It explores the transition from the Ward of Court system, emphasizing healthcare workers' roles, and explores "Capacity Assessments" and the consent. Unlike last year's foundational overview, this conference offers an advanced understanding of the Decision Support Service, the Enduring Power of Attorney process, advocacy and “The Voice of the Person," and regulatory issues in "Advance Healthcare Directives," providing a comprehensive view of the Act's real-world implications.
