He has over 30 years of experience with public and private sector organisations. This extensive experience includes inspection and enforcement roles in London, as well as the head of Fire & Safety for Trinity College Dublin.

Niall Whelton (B.SC (Hons) Architectural Technology) is currently an Inspector of Fire and Estates within the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).

He is part of a team of inspectors with responsibility for the regulation of adult social care services including services for older persons and people with disabilities.

Before joining the Authority, Niall worked as a Fire Prevention and Building Control Officer with Cork County Fire and Building Control Authority for eight years, enforcing fire safety and building control legislation.
