The Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire

Friday, 11th March 2016

The Irish Healthcare Centre Awards were held in March and the winners were announced at the black tie awards ceremony held in the wonderful and scenic surroundings of the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire Co. Dublin. Organised and hosted by Irelands leading event organisers, CMG Events, the feedback so far suggests the night was the best to date and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.  (click here to see the winners).

Hundreds of people from the world of Irish healthcare attended the annual awards ceremony to enjoy the unique combination of a wonderful social occasion and to find out who the judges had selected as category winners. The Irish Healthcare Centre Awards promote recognition of the achievements of the finalists and shines a spotlight on the fantastic work being done by Irish Healthcare professionals. This year, the event was even more emotional than previous years as winners were stunned, elated and overall delighted to have been chosen as a category award winner. What was equally fantastic was the obvious and genuine supportive encouragement by all the finalists in the room for the ultimate winners. (click here to see the gallery photos of the night)

The ceremony was opened by Marty Whelan, arguably Ireland’s favourite broadcaster, who was MC for the evening. After a wonderful dinner, the awards presentations started and winners were invited to the stage by Marty to tell the audience how they felt and as he interviewed the winners the sense of emotion, pride and support from the winners and others in the room was unique and wonderful.  The night was a rollercoaster of many very moving stories of the work done by healthcare professionals and most agreed the awards won would give their team a little extra spring in their step.

The final award of the evening was the Healthcare Person of the Year and this year CMG Events, the organisers broke with tradition by awarding 2 people and their families this award. They were presented this award for their tenacity and determination, research and consistent engagement with the healthcare sector to ensure change and significant improvement in maternity care and healthcare in general. The winners, Roisin and Mark Molloy and Shuana Keyes and Joey Cornally, received a standing ovation from the packed house.

The evening finished up with music and dancing into the early hours and the general atmosphere was of fun, pride and camaraderie. Look out for lots of photographs of healthcare centres from across the country featuring Marty Whelan, who proved tremendously popular again this year and is obviously a favourite of the healthcare community. All finalists also walked away with a framed certificate to bring back to their teams to display proudly.

On behalf of CMG Events, thank you to everyone who took part, including judges, applicants, the Royal Marine Hotel, and of course thank you all in the healthcare community for such positive encouragement and amazing feedback already.
