Nick O’Neill is a senior manager in the international energy sector. A trained petroleum geologist, he has 25 years practical experience in exploration and drilling. He is responsible within SLR Ireland for generating new business in the Energy sector. Nick is currently Project Manager for the Irish Petroleum Infrastructure Programme (www.pip.ie) which funds research to improve Ireland’s hydrocarbon prospectivity and remove barriers to exploration drilling. He has a diploma in strategy and innovation from University College Cork and recently completed a research report for the National Economic and Social Council to advise the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources on processes to design and deliver energy transformation in Ireland. His current research interests are offshore methane gas hydrates and geothermal potential in Ireland. Nick has contributed to a number of strategic reports for the Irish Government on energy policy including strategic gas storage, wind energy and CO2 sequestration.
