Terry Edge is the foremost expert on the UK's Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations and was the lead government official from 2004 until 2016. In 2014, he played a major part in drafting a new 'match test' that would hugely reduce the levels of harmful flame retardants used in the UK's and Ireland's furniture. Alongside this, his government department discovered that the current match test mostly does not work. This change, however, is currently being blocked by industry. Terry has extensive experience with British Standards and CEN working groups, and has presented at over 100 workshops, conventions and conferences around the world. He now works as an independent consultant and is a member of the Grenfell Fire Forum, a group of technical experts and Grenfell residents determined to ensure that the tragedy is fully and properly investigated.
